broadband internet...reliable broadband internet access is going to be over fiber. I am sure that everyone knows my opinion on this. It ain't gonna be satellite though, not reliable enough.

What it is going to take is somebody sticking their neck out and taking the chance with some really big money. That is happening right now in Japan. To stimulate the Japanese economy, the government is pumping a huge amount of money into the telecommunications infrastructure. I expect that Japan will be the first nation to have Fiber to the home to the vast majority of households.

Once it becomes obvious that Japan is going to be successful in this deployment, the competition will start.
