Scumbria, <Why is it that the media is not focused on that incident?>

Maybe because some people like driving their gas-guzzling SUV's and don't mind Bush's stance on oil? I'm sure people prefer cheap gas over pardoned fugitives, and the environment doesn't rank very high on their list.

Like I said before, both friends and foes of Bill Clinton are playing right into his hands. The Republicans will screw up once again trying to pursue Slick, Clinton's supporters will only hold more tightly to their man, and the media will continue to give Clinton more attention than he deserves.

This will be the oh-so-honorable legacy of Bill Clinton, not the balanced budget nor the economic boom nor the move toward the center, but episode after episode of this circus. And I'm sick of it.

Do you think there is a correlation between Bush taking large sums of money from the oil companies and pushing to drill in the ANWR?

Is there a shred of evidence there?

There is a lot more then a shred of evidence that Bush's campaign got a lot of money from oil companies and that he is pushing to drill in the ANWR. To my knowledge there is no evidence that there was any quid pro quo. The oil companies gave money to someone who would be sympathetic to their ideas. Just like if I was running for president I would take money from the NRA and seek to reduce federal gun control but I would not be taking a bribe. I would not be trying to reduce gun control because of the NRA contribution.

Because they drive SUVs?

Personally, I would rather be in control of my own destiny rather than depending on OPEC oil...
What's the big deal about the ANWR anyway? Heck, we've already overun the whole North American continent, stole the land from the native Americans and poluted it with cities and roads and RV parks...

Scumbria Re..Do you think there is a correlation between Bush taking large sums of money from the oil companies and pushing to drill in the ANWR? <

If the money played a part, it would have played a small part. GW was going to drill the ANWR with or without oil donations. REmember George Sr. wanted to drill anwr years ago. As a past oil man he understands the risks and benefits, so drilling ANWR was a foregone conclusion; and GW said as much in the campaign by the way.

Why is it that the media is not focused on that incident? <<<<

That's easy. Bill has been hogging the first fifteen minutes of the news every night. They don't have the time to even cover GW, much less cover ANWR.
