While I agree this is a delicate mess, I think cooler heads will prevail in the end. And Iraqi oil is factored in. Who knows .....

Yes as to the ammo switch. It is already over, more or less. The Brits are pissing and moaning, but the US Navy has been DU (U 238) free for quite some time. Now Army is converting over which is probably why they are puting out these news scares that there is no ammo for practicing. They need a ton of cash to buy the bullets. W is about 2.50 a pound which is more expensive than Pb by about a factor of 10. DU doesn't exactly have a free market, but I think it is about free to the right people.
