Yes , I am aware that you were the victim of a violent rape and that you placed a child for adoption. I've read most of this thread. And it surely helps in discerning your motivation. Justifiably so. I haven't a clue about Prolife except for his religious doctrine that he espouses. But I would submit to you that either experience (religious dogma or victimization) would color your ability to be objective. Understandable. My very own mother was a victim of rape. (BTW, is there such a thing a "non-violent rape"?). Also my husband's grandmother. They were elderly women when they were raped, so pregnancy and abortion obviously wasn't an issue. I also have a very good friend whose daughter was abducted and raped at the age of 12. Under no circumstances would I agree to dis-allowing that CHILD an abortion had she been impregnated. I have stated that I believe any woman who is raped should have the choice to terminate a pregnancy should that it occur. But as you well know, by far the greatest number of abortions in this country have NOTHING to do with rape. We've already covered this ground. I believe that most sincere people are honestly grappling with the idea of WHEN or IF there should be a legal cut-off to abortion (acknolwedging the exceptions of rape, incest, and health of the mother) I personally have a very difficult time with 3rd trimester abortions, and now, as fetal medicine advances, even the 2nd trimester. I think the argument about abortion is well settled for the huge majority of people when it is done within the context of rape. That's quite a different scenario than the wholesale destruction of human life as a matter of "choice".
