Michael, The HDX is designed to compete with the CoreDirector. Trials for the CoreDirector last six to nine months. It is safe to assume that competive products will require similar trial periods, sometimes side by side. The CoreDirector has captured the market by storm and has first to market advantage. The value should be quite apparent based on Ciena's announcement yesterday, and Nortel's announcement after the close. Nortel provides Level 3 with DWDM transmission gear, but lost the switch contract to Ciena. This in spite of Nortel's vendor financing offers, which Ciena refuses to do. Assigning a dollar value to the market postition would be pure guesswork. But it is a safe bet that it is substantial in terms of pure systems sales, and more importantly, the synergistic effect of offering an end-to-end solution of best-of-breed technology. No one else comes close to this goal. Jack
