I guess the choice of which to do is dependent upon the strength of your uncertainty.

Selling a Covered Call at the top of the cycle seems kind of like pumping your legs on a swing ... you get just a *bit* more oomph out of the cycle, while deferring the actual sale of the stock.

Likewise, buying a Put at the top of the cycle lets you control - and leverage - far more shares than simply selling your holding. (each option = 100 shares.)

Through the prior two runs above 50, I've dumped about 10% of my shares as well. Since AMAT seems to be moving 48 +/- 6, I figure I'll put the truck in reverse at 43-42, and bottom out the shocks anywhere below 40.
