When will JDU file its lawsuit against Nortel. After all they sold the Swiss plant for Nortel shares which are now worth a whole lot less.

mr somaney's inability to distinguish between the excellently-run nortel and the pathetic lucent indicates to me that he is like an ignorant teenager who has a few facts but can't see how to put them together. the entire business world miscalculated the degree of shortfall. what hit nortel - the sudden drying of demand - hit every company. the probable reason for the suddenness is high tech. the minute demand began to slow, everyone saw it on their networks and adjusted accordingly. for the same reason, nortel and the rest of the well-managed firms will pull out of this within a year. nt's contracts with china have been announced for all to read. if you, KM, were planning a major network, who would you employ? nt or lucent? cien doesn't have the financing for a big network. so who? do you think new networks will be built? or do you think it is all built out? if there is a world economy there must be fiber optics; and the only integrated fiber optics powerhouse in the world is nt.
but lucent has virtually no experience in the cutting edge of optics: OC-192. it has a ministerial manager in mr. schacht, not an entrepreneur. it is snowballing into an avalanche. as you can imagine, all the best brains (which is the real inventory of a fiber optic firm) must be about to bail out of lu ; to nt, to cien, to jnpr (wouldn't you?) all of whom will come roaring out of this at full throttle. lu hasn't a clue (who does?) as to what it can do to turn around: no dynamic mr. roth to see to it that bell labs' products get to market; no 10 Gbp/s know-how; no longer the financial muscle with which to finance carriers' networks; no idea how to reform its antiquated sales compensation "system". nothing. helpless. lost.
and this dope Somaney calls nt "another lucent"
