Jorj,
If this topic were black and white we would have no reason for the topic. Nothing can be more debatable than grey areas dealing with personal rights and the lives of other humans.

I belive if a woman wants to jump off a bridge and die, she should be able to without interference. A man should be able to do the same. If she is 4 months pregnant then my opinion changes.....if she is 4 weeks pregnant, my opinion changes.

If a man donates a kidney to save his dying girlfriend, he has no right to ask for it back. If he "donates" sperm to form an embryo, that becomes at least half his child if born, I think he should have some degree of influence in this life and death decision. An inconvenience to the woman, a child to the man. This gets more grey with every spoken word, doesn't it?

Sex with a 17 11/12 year old will put you in prison. Sex 30 days later is legal. Miss the date by a month and either sex is in jail. I think the law is there to protect the abuse of the child of limited mental capacity. After all, if you mess with a 17 year old or a 13 year old...you still see the big house. When does a cell cluster get the same protection as a 7 month old fetus? Will there be a day when doctors can legally kill off those over age 80 who have limited chance of a rewarding life after hospitalization? Often times a law does more harm than good simply because it opens the mind to variables of time and age. I have no answers. Some abortions are necessary, some are done out of convenience and some are illegal in some states while legal in others.

The basic solution is perhaps to simply think what getting a little nookie can cause in mental and physical anguish to the parties involved.....including the embryo/fetus/cell cluster.

I've read that since Roe v Wade the population of Pennsylvania has been aborted 3 times over. And my daughter doesn't have enough playmates locally....odd thought isn't it.

Millions of would-be children.....they're not here....as intelligent beings, I think we have to ask how this number could be acceptable, regardless of who wants what rights.

If the words....choice and life were not in our vocabulary....would we call the decision......Pro-humanity...Pro-Conscience...Pro-What?......Anti-birth....sounds ugly.....

Are we murderers? I don't know. Are we? Perhaps we are. Horrible thought isn't it?

Finally, one problem that we must keep in mind is that SI is not a perfect medium for this conversation/topic or the wars that form here. I've had PM's and ICQ conversations with Pro-Choice people and have had reasonable, intelligent conversations where both of us came away more enlightened. Often, what appears in public is only part of what circulates by PM and due to this we don't always get the entire story before we form our minds to answer what is seen as a "wrong" post. This happens with great regularity and often causes the belief that we know the entire story. I've learned recently to never assume I have heard all the facts. I have also learned that it is not impossible to purposely eliminate facts in order to sway an opinion or behavior. That said, it is best for us to do our own thinking here regardless of topic and to have faith in the persons we know and trust. It makes for a more uncomplicated life.
