The big question is "if" the IRS catches you at it. My accountant's point was that it's HIGHLY unlikely that they'd catch it.

Fire your accountant. There's no reason for an accountant to even discuss the likelihood of whether or not the IRS will catch a taxpayer intentionally defrauding the country (meaning you and me) of tax receipts.
