Zeev doesn't the Washington agreement ensure at least an orderly disposal of the bulk of the CB's gold? If, as I understand it, it limits the amounts of gold that can be sold by the banks, it should not be a great impediment to a gold rally. I am by no means a gold bull, but I think that gold stocks and even some physical gold should be a small portion of everybody's portfolio right now, given the economic and energy uncertainties we are facing.

Zeev- Your "market-might-rally-the-1st-couple-trading-days (next Monday/Tuesday) after-options ex week- if options ex Friday is down- theory" (whew, that's a mouthful)...

Anyway, would that theory really apply if options ex Friday is down because of fundamentally bad news (Nortel)? It seems like your theory is a good one in a NON-NEWS market; ie, IF "they" took down the market on Friday for options ex-related reasons; therefore, it'll bounce back (to where it was) pre options ex Friday right after..

But last Friday seemed to be mostly unrelated to options ex....it was all Nortel...

Or am I wrong? TIA

>>>have a counter move in XAU when the market in general gets down here, but I doubt this is anything "fundamental">>

zeev, i don't know much about the fundamentals of the gold market, but when the level of bulls is getting to 14% and price is hitting a former major support and pivot, i wanna start looking for a possible rally, don't care if it's counter-trend or fundamental -g-
