Hi Dalinster. I shot down 12 Reds today and only got killed 4 times as a US fighter pilot. I'm getting better...

I also bought the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 professional edition.
It's pretty expensive software but cheaper than buying a Cessna.
Besides it had a $20 mail in rebate and the chance to win a Free Cessna!

I played around with it for a while.
It's much different than Fighter Ace. FA is much more exciting because of the nonstop action, but this simulator is extremely cool.
You get all the gauges and instruments that the real planes have.
I can actually learn how to fly a plane without taking off the ground...
(Actually I realize how much harder it probably is to fly a real plane but this is very realistic.)
You get the option of setting it up as realistic as you want it.

There are flight instructors who can get me started and eventually I can get certified to fly in the cyber skies...

Here is a list of the air craft that is available to fly.
Sopwith Camel Bi Plane
Schweizer SGS 2-32 Glider
Cessna 182S Skylane
Cesna 182 RG
Extra 300S (Aerobatic Air Show Plane)
Mooney Bravo
Beech King Air 350
Learjet 45
Boeing 737-400 (Jet liner)
Boeing 777-300 (Jet liner)
The Concorde
Bell 206B Jet Ranger III (Helicopter)

The game downloads the real actual weather from the internet for the cities you are flying to and from and all along the way.
The game can even help with becoming IRF trained (rated to fly at night or in poor visibility using instruments only).
It holds a data base of 50 cities worldwide and 100's of airports all over the US.

I'm going to see if the game has the small county airport near my town and then fly to New Mexico and visit Polvie...

Earlier today I landed a Cessna (that had run out of gas in mid flight) on a US Aircraft Carrier in the middle of the ocean. Pretty cool. I didn't even crash.

Then I buzzed Red Square and crashed as I tried to land there...

It's Excellent!!

Especially with my new Sidewinder II joystick. Wow!!!
It vibrates as I cruise down the runway, provides resistance as I make turns, and then I can feel the bump as I touch down on the runway.

I may buzz the Empire State Building and fly around Manhattan at night time. Should be pretty...

I believe it can be played online but I'm not sure how or what it does? Perhaps Pilot and CoPilot? or Aerobatics?
Not sure...

I still wish there was something to shoot at during those long flights though... <g>

Anyhow, this thing is pretty realistic. I'm amazed with all the calculations it performs.
Microsoft is putting a lot of money into it's games division. I bet their Zone.com becomes huge in the future.
Especially when their game box starts selling...

Instead of kids putting quarters into machines, they will soon be paying a monthly subscription...
Leagues will be set up like baseball and soccer...
It's going to be huge... especially with Virtual Reality helmets and gear...

Anyhow, I've got some flying to do now.
I'm going to see if I can get certified flying my Gateway PC Cessna.<g>
