I told you I'm not the keeper of the code

But you are the one who says how great P4 is with "modern" code. When confronted with "where is this modern code?", you give this answer. Basic logic requires that you support your claims. You should be able to show one example of a commercial app one can buy at retail which is "modern".

Is Intel compiler which gives all these great SPEC figures used for anything other than to compile SPEC ? Also what's this rumor that it has problems compiling some valid C/C++ code ? Do you think it passes the same tests MSFT uses to test VC++ ? If it doesn't, is anyone brave enough to use it in a commercial product ? These are the questions which you take the responsibility of answering when you say P4 is great with "modern" code.

Otherwise you just have to accept the fact that MSFT OSs, apps and the vast majority of ISV apps don't even require a P3, they are compiled with "blend" (which includes some 486 optimizations) options, and this won't change for a long time.

Just deal with it.
