>>NO ONE has an optical switch yet<<

I think you are confusing the generic term "optical switch" with an "all-optical switch". If you had said that no one has an all-optical switch (o-o-o) I would agree with you (perhaps advocates of Corvis may not, but that is another issue concerning the exact definition of an all-optical switch and its functionality,) but Ciena (with the CoreDirector,) Sycamore (with the SN16000,) Tellium (with the Aurora) and Cisco (to a certain degree with its Monterey product) already have an o-e-o switch they are shipping. And my limited understanding of Nortel's HDX is that it is Nortel's product in this area under trials soon (if not already underway) and ready to be shipped later this year.

Jack--- I own NT but I am here to learn and feel we need to post both sides of the issue of why a company is suceeding or not . I am here to make money in the long run and the more I know the better chance I have of suceeding . What happen yesterday was not Ciena but the economy slowing down ---the question is when it will rebound , what NT will do to cut costs and what new products they will need to remain on the cutting edge

BEST WISHES
