FUD being used by Metricom to play defense.

GPRS is one form of 2.5G which nobody is excitied about. AT&T has been more vocal about a more advanced form called "Edge," which will be on the market much sooner than 3-5 years. CDMA's 1XRTT technology is probably better still. That is what Verizon and Sprint will be putting in place THIS YEAR across the entire country - even Chicago.

Metricom supporters seem to always be playing defense instead of offense. They feel the need to constantly explain why there will be no competition instead of just showing the market that, competition or not, they will have plenty of subscribers. Metricom should "just do it" and get the customers. If there really is no competition, it should be easy. The first quarter is now more than half over. Unless the pace has picked up from the fourth quarter, Metricom is in BIG trouble. "No competition" and still no customers means no money.

Nice small bounce on that Amerifirst Savings & Loan report. Let's see if it is more than just a brief chance to get out above $5. As always, time will tell. So far, time has not been on Metricom's side. Time for them to "Just do it," if they can.
