Milo, a good link! Most interesting is that Planet3DNow! reports about a _rumor_ that the next "ALDI PC" may have an Athlon processor inside. ALDI is a very big food discounter in Germany. From time to time, for example before Christmas, they offer a very cheap, full featured PC. (Some say that ALDI doesn't do this to make money from the PC but to attract new customers.) This "ALDI PC" is immensely popular in Germany. Each time, ALDI is selling huge numbers of it. When ALDI did it for the first time, the media in Germany were reporting for days about how people were desperately trying, sometimes even fighting against each other in the stores to get one of these PCs. For ordinary PC vendors the cheap "ALDI PCs" are a nightmare for they ruin the market. The ordinary PC vendors have lost a very large number of customers due to ALDI.

Until now, the ALDI PC always had an Intel processor. During the last promotion, some time before Christmas, the ALDI PC had a Pentium III 933.

Now the rumor says that the next ALDI PC would have the following configuration:

Athlon 1,2 GHz
256 MByte DDR-SDRAM
GeForce 2 GTS with 64 MByte DDR
40-GByte-harddisc
DVD-ROM
10x8x32-burner

It would almost be too good to be true. So far, I remain sceptical.
