In my particular case, the commision for buying back half a dozen calls was only $12 and the cost $5 each. At 3:55 the stock shot up to about 24.80. I figured it was a ruse to get covered sellers to buy back, so I only offered to buy at 0.05 (bid 0, ask 0.15).

That ask must have been mine. I decided to sell Feb 25 covered calls for the part of my position. My order has been sitting there for some time, until the close, but didn't get filled.

PS: What broker do you use? I haven't seen a broker offering $12 option commissions
