Also half the hand gun deaths in the US are suicides. If they are going to do it the hand gun is a much preferred method. In other countries they have to jump in front of trains and such. In your liberal compassion you should be pleased that this method of offing oneself is available.

Baltimore which is the largest city in Maryland where I live has a horrible murder rate due mostly to drugs. It was so bad that during the last campaign for Mayor the candidates in their debates openly acknowledged the existence and the location of the "open air drug markets in the city." Although the City is majority black it elected a white Mayor whose main campaign theme was to put and end to the "open air drug markets." On the other hand the governor, Lt. governor and comptroller of the state, said and did nothing about this problem, they focused on the need for trigger locks on pistols. While this may be desirable legislation, it is a totally anemic response to the real problem. It is as if the city were burning down and the solution to the problem was to pass a law conserving water. Good Idea but isn't going to solve the problem. Little joe
