the tech sector is definitely in a recession or worse -g-, due to overcapacity built during the bubble, the service sector is not, thats why the mixed signals, imo.

i would compare the overcapacity built into tech similar to the bubble in oil service stocks and the overcapacity built into the oil market in 1997, just prior to the asian crises, similar chart patterns too.
