ild, Baker succeeded in driving the buck down. That contributed to the 1987 mini crash, so it is certainly not good for the stock market. Fatal, perhaps not, as stocks eventually did well after the 1987 swoon.

I don't believe in the surplus. It is caused by the Baby Boom moving into its maximum earning years and contributing mightily to Social Security. Once that group is in its retirement years, surplus will turn to deficit, big time. However, even the surplus lovers admit this, so I guess it's no secret.
