Thanks, Kemo. I never believed the "net spenders" thing. The US is a very rich country, and people's assets include houses, earnings stream, and retirement accounts, which are generally not reflected in the savings rate. The job of the fed is to weigh the risks of inflation against stagnation, and to act when people "disengage." We are close to that happening.
