I'm mostly buy and hold but don't mind flipping
things for a few bucks here and there

I imagine we're safe in interpreting that...as meaning you'll sell for a few bucks if a quick profit is presented, but hold on as an "investor" if it goes down. Of course this is the opposite of what is needed for success...the trap so many seem to fall into.

This will be taken as an insult...but in all seriousness, someone who's reaction to a failing strategy is to post on a message board asking "someone out there" to put "in a few sentences" a guide to turning their portfolio around...in all likelyhood should be running to interview a few financial planners and turning portfolio management over to them...There sure aint no easy free lunch few sentence answers here...

I'm not (making money that is).

In fact, I'm on track for my 12th straight losing month. BUT, I anticipated the tech wreck and have been an average of 90% cash for over a year now, so my losses are pretty small. In retrospect, I should have been shorting or buying puts rather than trying to pick out the one winner among 10. It still pisses me off that silver and gold have done nothing during that time, but you can't fight the tape, so don't try.

Buy and hold doesn't cut it right now. P/E's are still outrageous. Unless you're prepared to get in and out fast, cash out and stay out. Going to get worse before it gets better, IMO.
