The other thing missed in all of the conversation about the death tax is that these mega rich folks use trusts and all kinds of cute ways to shield their estates. It's the middle income pond scum that has accumulated some wealth in their homes and 401k's that get hammered. It's always enjoyable to see a small business or family farm sold just to pay the government off.

Dishonest statists like you talk about multi-zillionaires even as they pick the pockets of the middle class. An old trick you learned from magicians - distract the audience's attention from the hand with the dollar in it.

Actually the death tax is all about preventing the poor from moving up. Towards that goal it's a very effective tool .

As to preventing an aristocracy, if 120 millionaires have their way in this matter, I think we can say the death tax has been a failure preventing that.
