I know you hope I'm right as I hope you're wrong. But events can overtake reasonable expectations. As expectations remained high into 1931 but collapsed as events both international and domestic overtook them. It is almost as if reasonable men (and women) simply stood aside and became observers and not actors in that great contraction. I have great confidence in our institutions today and see in them a stratified stability of functionalities much like the stability of species within an ecological niche.
