>>1.Items awaiting revenue (interesting choice of words, sounds like this means items not sold yet), 2.Acceptance from customer - installed products which are undergoing certification or are these products which are being tested, and if they meet the customers requirements will be installed?<<

I'm not sure there is a question in there for me, but just for clarification sake, Smith has mentioned in past CCs that the acceptance rate of customers trialing Ciena products is becoming very high...to the point they were trying to get away from announcing customers in trials. (And I have noticed recently fewer announcements of trials and more of just contracts with product already shipping...) That is not to say there are no customers that do not accept, but "Items awaiting revenue" may not be inventory with no claims, but rather inventory building up waiting for delivery according to the unique buildout schedule of each customer whereupon revenue is recognized....Just my guess, though...

Bodie,

Ciena does not book revenue until the product is shipped, installed, tested, and accepted by the customer. Many companies book revenue upon receipt of order, then wind up with egg on their faces. Know any?
