hdl, That is definitely the negative case on Japan and why its markets are in the tank. However, the thing Haines misses, IMHO, is the power of that huge savings rate. He is basically talking about what currently is the case in Japan, while I'm talking about what I think can happen on the upside. Basically, trend follower vs. contrarian. So you have to choose where you want to bet or if you just want to stay clear. I think there are opportunities, but I'm not betting the ranch on them. Just a bit.
