The slide from just under 7 at beginning of march to under 2 today has been incredible. Finally we have some word from mgmt today;

Two significant positives from the interview of CEO Williams. First, no mention of a slowdown in sales. To the contrary, he anounced an increase in expected large unit sales (>25K)for 2001 from 250 (as provided in 2/15/01 conference call) to 330 units. Second, he clearly indicated that both parties are hoping to achieve a negotiated settlement rather than continuing the litigation. While these are very encourging points, a couple of things about the interview troubled me.

I sensed a certain lack of enthusiasum on Jeff's part. Perhaps he was just tired, but definitely didn't act like a CEO just chomping at the bit to take the opportunity to reassure shareholders. The interviewer, after asking decent questions and getting vague answers, then put equally ambiguous words into Jeff's mouth.

For example, when asked about 2001 growth projections, Jeff referred to analysts projections of 40-50% over the next 5 years with which he is comfortable. Despite the above headline, he never specifically stated numbers for 2001. As for profitability, after some generalities from Jeff, the interviewer suggested that GNSL would be profitable in 2002 - to which Jeff strongly agreed. Not exactly a contradiction to the heretofor target of Q42001, but...
