Joe, just a couple of years ago, a lot of AMD backers on these threads were hoping IBM or someone, anyone, would buy them out. Since then, AMD has had success with one chip, and all of a sudden they're going to take over the lead from Intel? Anything is possible, but AMD has a lot more to prove.

Joe - Re: "all it takes is next few years of performance like we are seeing now, and Intel will lose the most profitable franchise in history."

Seeing now?

Hardly.

Now it is AMD that has canceled the MUSKANK, Slipped the delivery schedule on the PaloMeano AGAIN, slipped the SMP 760 chip set - AGAIN - and has completely vacated the mobile CPU market while never entering the Server market.

AMD had a good solid year with the AthWiper in mid 1999 - to mid 2000 while Intel foundered - but since then, Intel seems to have righted the ship while AMD is listing badly.

As an AMDroid, you can't or won't see that - but it is pretty obvious.
