earnings season is like a general term for when companies release their earnings... generally because of fiscal/calendar year overlaps and traditional convention... as the final qtr of a calendar year ends, in january we enter the bulk of company's earnings announcements... normally these days YHOO kicks it off for us... thrne throughout, i like to use DELL/CSCO as the tail enders of earnings season... after that, still companies announcing, but the biggies are done...

so months like march, june, sept and dec are not as earnings announcement prone... but more so.. earnings warnings season ;)
