Hi Chuck,

too small a sample to represent "joe investor:

There has been research done on the Ameritrade Index and apparently it is very representative of the average retail investor.

joe investor represents a very small % of volume/power in the market. 50% of the "buyers" on Ameritrade bot JDSU or SUNW yesterday!?!

Thats exactly the point of the index. The retail investor tends to be on the wrong side of the trade and thats why it works as a contrarian indicator. The stat from Friday indicates to me that it was institutions distributing to retail. Not bullish. The day of "the bottom" The number of buys will likely be very low. For me its just a sentiment indicator.

It is of course just one indicator should not be used stand-alone..
