OT:

I am just finishing Into Thin Air, another remarkable story that takes place in a cold clime with less happy results. Glad I live in a warm environment (AZ).

If you’re enjoying Into Thin Air, you might want to check out the IMAX film Everest. It’s been around for a couple of years, but I still see it playing from time to time. In fact it’s currently playing in Manhattan for those of you in the NYC area. The film touches on the catastrophe detailed in Krakauer’s Into Thin Air, but what’s most impressive is the stunning cinematography. I highly recommend it.

Anyone looking for more info on Shackleton should definitely read ENDURANCE: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage. By Alfred Lansing (1959) but published several time since.

If one didn't know this story was true, you probably wouldn't believe it. Most highly recommended as a triumph of human spirit which puts our current situation into a bit of perspective.

Cheers
