yeah, cjac......and those texaco guys had policeman-style caps, bowties and starched shirts...but in truth, I never saw any guys remotely like that in real life, either, during the 50's but the oil check and windshield service was, indeed, the rule of the day.

OK, and the answer issssssss: Farfel was the crooning Nestlees hound, jerry mahoney was the boy puppet, knucklehead was his sidekick and Paul Winchell ( or was it Jerry Winchell?) was the ventriloquist.
