Zeev,

Rambus was developing a product commonly known back then as "Rambus", now known as RDRAM. They memory manufacturers never had any reason to believe that Rambus had any interest in SDRAM.

It wasn't till RDRAM began to fail that Rambus openly switched their tactics, though it is clear now that they had that as a backup plan all along.

Had RDRAM lived up to it's billing, there would be none of this monkey business going on now. I'm surprised that there haven't been any lawsuits concerning the real issue behind it all.
