Looks like another one of those stock picking newsletters picked ATTP. Unlike the last one that drove the price up, this one's disclaimer says that they did not receive any compensation for the pick. Here it is from StockSnake: 64.70.168.36
>>> Our pick for Sunday, February 18 is Affordable Telecommunications Technology Corp. (OTCBB: ATTP) a Houston, Texas based development stage company engaged in the business of both providing and reselling wireless telecommunications services, paging services and data collection services. Affordable Telecom markets its wireless telecommunications products and services through a network of 11 retail stores located in South Texas and Louisiana. Affordable Telecom’s retail stores include The Wireless Store, Camera's Etc. and Beeper Boutique. The company also employs a 40 person direct sales force.
Affordable Telecom has contracts to market its wireless service from the following wireless telecommunications service providers: Nextel, Sprint PCS, Bell South Wireless, Houston Cellular Telephone Company, Page-Mart, Comsat Mobile Communications, and Globalstar Telecommunications Co.
Recently, the company negotiated a joint venture with Link-Two Communications, Inc., which holds numerous radio paging licenses that cover Southwest Texas. Link-Two offers nationwide service with two-way digital messaging on a wide area network. The joint venture will establish a one-way and two-way paging, messaging and data service over a network throughout Texas. In addition, the alliance with Link-Two will enable Affordable Telecom to provide Automatic Meter Reading service (AMR) throughout its market. Automatic Meter Reading is the remote collection of consumption data from customers' utility meters over telecommunications links. AMR services allow electric, water and natural gas companies to read household meters through remote technology and without entering a household.
Affordable Telecom is currently in negotiations with several utilities to become a marketer of electricity in conjunction with “smart meter” AMR technology to consumers in a deregulated market. Affordable Telecom’s 11 retail stores will become payment centers for pre-paid utility services. The company plans to market pre-paid utility services to residents in the Houston Metropolitan area and negotiate marketing relationships with local apartment developers to implement this new service.
Steve Bethke, president of Affordable Telecommunications Technology, stated, “The future growth of AMR services presents a significant opportunity for Affordable Telecom. While there are approximately 16 million smart utility meters installed in the U.S. today, the potential market is perceived to be upwards of 260 million on a national scale. Affordable Telecommunications is armed with the technology and the network to move forward in this arena, which should bring substantial revenue to the company as the market develops.
In order to expand its market and customer base, Affordable Telecom has expanded its products and services offerings to appeal to market segments including small business and middle-and-upper income users. The company initially offered its products and services on a pre-paid basis primarily to individuals who could not obtain adequate credit for service from major telecommunication providers on satisfactory terms.
Through a recently announced venture between AirTouch Cellular, Affordable Telecom now offers Globalstar Telecommunications satellite phone, which includes the Globalstar handsets, accessories and service. The Globalstar service provides customers with satellite telephone service worldwide and is distributed and marketed throughout North America. The deal allows Affordable Telecom to offer this satellite communication service throughout Texas. In addition, the company offers paging, messaging and information products and services through third party networks, including PageMart and Bell South Wireless Data.
On February 14, Affordable Telecom announced it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Zmail Media, Inc., a leading provider of Interactive Public Access Terminals (iPATs). Zmail Media is a Houston-based, privately-held company that empowers communities and individuals with Interactive Public Access Terminals (iPATs) known as Zstations. Zmail Media offers iPAT terminals and branded Zstations that utilize high-speed Internet connections. Through Zstations, consumers can conduct numerous online activities, such as checking e-mail, browsing the Internet, conducting e-commerce transactions, and printing documents. Unlike existing public access devices, the Zstation is a versatile digital multimedia center that allows consumers to access the Internet and replaces the need for cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs). Steve Bethke, president of Affordable Telecommunications Technology, stated, “The Zstations network will provide Affordable a dynamic forum for our advanced voice and data communication technologies, e- commerce, Internet opportunities, and advertising. Zmail Media strengthens Affordable's 2001 growth initiatives. We plan to cross-promote our retail stores through Zstation terminals as well as utilize the terminals as a payment center for pre-paid utilities. The synergies created by this acquisition significantly expand our opportunities to enhance shareholder value.

Stocksnake.com views ATTP as a ground-floor opportunity to cash in on the coming boom in wireless communications and Internet services. Shares of ATTP closed Friday at 14.5 cents on volume of 1,438,100 shares. With only 23.6 million shares outstanding and the company projecting profitability in the coming year… shares of ATTP are, in our opinion, extremely undervalued. The upside potential here could be considerable. Readers are urged to visit the company web site for further information:
