You had asked me why I owned Intel, and I replied that during my ownership of it, it had doubled every 18-24 months, and based on that experience, I would continue to own it for a while more.

I guess nostalgia is one of the more interesting reasons for holding onto investments, but I am not going to argue with it.

(which I couldn't find) where I might have said that you predicted doubling of Intel stock, which you clearly did not.

But I still find the theory of holding a stock because of past performance (rather present and future performance) curious.

My observation of Intel is something like an 18 wheeler that moves fast on a highway. It is going to continue to move at great speed, even if the engine is turned off for a while, because of the inertia. But it needs an engine to be functional in order to continue to move in the future.
