I think 3x is a moot point right now. Considering 1xEv is pretty much outperform both 3x and WCDMA, yet it is more mature and stable. So I believe 1xEv is more natural of a choice.

The 1xevdv standard in progress specifies operation with 3x radio configurations - that it will operate within both 5mhz and 1.25 mhz bands.

So - 1xevdv is, or rather will be, 3x - while remaining compatible with 1x...

This is the cdma2000 standard that has the best prospects for altering preconceptions regarding Europe...
