Four players in distributed power are listed: Capstone Turbine, Ballard Power Systems, Caterpillar and Encorp.

I wonder if Capstone's Businessweek advertising has anything to do with their rec. I have had them on my watch list..but that is all I have done so far...watch

microturbine.com
As part of its plan to increase public awareness of its microturbine systems, Capstone will debut a new advertising campaign in the January 29 California issue of BusinessWeek magazine. A preview of the ad is online at www.microturbine.com/Y2k1.pdf .M

Ballard Power Systems.... I never thought of them as a distributed power play. They are in the PEM fuel cell automotive market. With the super clean efficient new hybrids I don't see a big roll for fuel cell cars. For distributed market fuel cells I would have opted for FCEL.

Caterpillar.... I have been watching them too. They make generators but it is a small piece of their business. There may be a spurt in generator sales but long term fuel cells will dominate the market. With a slow down in national growth I am concerned CAT's other business will have a more significant affect on their bottom line.

Encorp... They don't seem to be a publicly traded company.

I have added EMR and GE to my infrastructure watch list. A lot of $ will be moving and my guess is it will flow towards the big guys.
