To clarify Gilder's comments on CNBC on Friday: He strongly recommended JDSU saying that they make key components that will be needed for the fiberoptic network buildout.

Very high on AVANEX, too, saying the CEO is a genius, and their technology is superior. Also high on NUFO. Although he didn't mention them at this time CIENA, SYCAMORE, CORVIS
are also on his list, among others.

Regarding two of the other companies you listed and which he did discuss -- LU and Globalstar -- please note he praised the TECHNOLOGY assets of LU but panned the management. For Globalstar he noted there's nothing to be gained for the equity investor since they are in bankruptcy but some one will take over their technology which he felt was terrific.

As a former Gilder Technology Report subscriber, it's fair to say Gilder's primary focus is on the technology -- determining equity valuations is definitely not his forte. While he has picked many companies that have proved to be big market winners, to be fair there have been more than a few dogs in terms of stock price performance, too, and they tend to remain on his list regardless.
