<<If it was so easy for them to figure out this guy had no business owning a gun, why was it sold to him? Because the dealer did not have that info, or because the dealer overlooked certain facts for the sake of the sale? >>

You sure he got it from a dealer? Or he bought it after he went nuts? Last gun I bought was from a guy who broke 3 laws owning it and he bought it after it was used on a drive by shooting by a guy who couldn't legally own the gun. Paid 10 cents on the dollar. Nice side by side with a great sawed off job. Yep, I took it to the police who said it was fine. That's the one under the bed.

Dear Third Eye, just last week a fanatic drove a bus and killed several in Isreal. Using an example of one to make any point is just plain stupid. More are killed by folks driving than by folks with guns. So lets ban cars and we can save lives. Or we could just shoot any drunken driver who injures or kills someone.

Just some whacko ideas for someone with whacko logic.

There are several possibilities. First, he bought the gun through citizen to citizen. Second , he stole it. Third, the gun dealer didnt have access to the information. Fourth, the gun dealer didn't check. Of course, unless the individual has a prior history, there would not be anything to check. I don't know which of the above applies to the situation.

But, if a gun dealer sold him the gun without following the existing regulations, the law was broken and adding additional laws will not change that fact. Similiarly if he stole the gun, or acquired it through extra-legal means, he broke the law and no additional laws, or banning of firearms, would have changed that fact.

In other words, enforce the existing regulations.
