Whether we like it or not, Canucks are wed to the U.S. The statement up here is that when the U.S. sneezes, Canada catches pneumonia. The chart basically says "NT falls".

The TSE index is just one more example of the stupidity of "cap weighted indexes" NT exceeded 30% of the TSE index at one point. Not that you guys should be too smug, as the U.S. indexes have the same built-in madness (but are larger).

There are some differences that could help. We don't have 125% home mortgages up here (our banks being a touch more conservative), and personal debt levels are not as extreme. Unfortunately, our stock markets have been every bit as insane as those in the U.S, so we will not escape the coming pain. We have already "joined hands" as it were.
