Actually, the ones who survived best (or at least leave descendants) were the ones who carried multiple genes for a variety of colors, so they had the tools to be able to change quickly, when the environment changed.

Permabulls do just as badly as Permabears.

i told that moth story to some holy rollers once as proof of natural selection, but they had some reason why that's not the case. i think the same thing will happen in this bear market. zealots will find all sorts of specious reasons for denying the existence of "mutant" survivors...

Without spending inordinate amounts of time analyzing how I perceive things, my quick take on the current situation is that things do change but not as quickly as some believe and not as slowly as others wish.

Sound reasoned debate, augmented with evidence, will change minds, even mine: It's just a slow process. I'll continue to monitor things.

I welcome opinions which differ from mine. Unfortunately, I also have the all too human propensity to dismiss them if they are presented annoyingly.

You have presented your reasoning in a clear and logical manner. I'm just simply not ready to adopt them.

Thank-you,

PW.

P.S. I'm familiar with the moths. They're an excellent fast-forward type observation supporting Darwin's evolution theory.

<... industrial revolution blanketed the forests in soot, these poor white moths stood out like bright "eat me" signs on the dirty grey trunks. Their grey mutant offspring stood a far greater chance of survival. So, over a period of less than 5 years, the species changed color from white to grey!

The white moths became grey because they were blanketed with the same soot as the trees. :)

As I understand it, Bambs plays CSCO alternately long and short and times it correctly every time.
