I also am self-employeed and have 'frequent flyer miles'. I charge up to the 10,000 allowed for the program EVERY month AND I pay it off, EVERY month. Thus am free to fly around the country 5 round trips a year. If they count my 10,000 every month as real debt, they are wrong. It is a choice to use it versus paying cash or check. I have other self-employeed friends who have done this for years to fly for free and do not pay any interest as the balance is cleared monthly. Steve D.
