Don, OT *** TA books

>you mention morris' book, and the pitmaster-guy mentions nison<

Don't know Nison. Get Morris: he is easy to understand and systematic. For every pattern he explains the pattern, then gives commentary, rules of recognition, scenarios and psychology behind the pattern, pattern flexibility, pattern breakdown and related patterns. Plus, at the end there's an interview with Mr. Takehiro Hikita.

O/T Book Searches & Nison vs Morris (candlesticks)

One of my favorite used book search sites is Bibliofind. I've never bought anything using it but its search capabilities are amazing:

bibliofind.com

Morris' book is a straightforward presentation with relatively short sections on each pattern type, giving meaning, recognition rules, examples, related patterns, etc. Philosophy, history, and effectiveness follow towards the back of the book, but it's a good reference or look up book. I think the Nison books have more detail and give fuller explanations, so may be better for a novice trying to learn candlesticks for the first time.

Don,

WWW.Stockcharts.com has a great education section that gives brief descriptions of almost all of the popular TA stuff, including candles. I agree that you need several different indicators because they are based on different factors and time periods. As LG says, when they all line up is when you go to town!

Best to all,

John
