Is the next generation of copy protection going too far?

-----------
Hastening a rapid demise for the free copying of digital media, the next generation of hard disks is likely to come with copyright protection countermeasures built in.

Mark ..

I did a thread search and couldn't find this URL had been listed before ...

resellerratings.com

The reason for me bringing it up is that I was on the phone last evening with my son who is a semi commercial user of photo stuff ....
reason I say semi is that he skydives and films the other jumpers ... gets to jump for free and reduced rates .....ggg
on the weekends to go with his full time weekday job with Firestone.

anyway .. yesterday was his 32nd birthday and I'd gotten him a membership on SI ... even tho he is not much of a stock investor ...
and
as MzNemer and I are going to Austin to see him next weekend I was quizzing him on the innards of his Dell so I could get him some more memory and another 40 gig HD ...
those parachute jumps take LOTS of HD space ....

I use this site a LOT, as I'm a cheapo when it comes to pricing/buying and I average at least one purchase a week online computer stuff ..
when I come across a new vendor from Price Watch, Price Scan, or Computer Shopper I immediately go to this site to check them out

Hope the thread finds it as handy as do I ....

Nemer

ps
evem tho there are a LOT of overclocking sites, especially at the top of the list, most every online company from which I've ordered is listed on down the page ....
and I've found the ratings to be nearly exact .... with the possible exception or two ...
Cyber Power comes to mind for I would rate it way up at the top ...

there'll be another mystery

Truer words were never spoken, er, typed.

Installed a program called Windows Bug, then another program through Amazon.com called Liquid Audio.

Whichever one did it, I do not know. But have not even been able to get into Safe Mode to remove them. What I get instead, is a message telling me to restart and uninstall any new hardware or software in Safe Mode. Except, it tells me that when I'm trying to get into Safe Mode.

We are almost at the re-install W2K point. Before we try that, do you know how I could try to start it using the Norton Systemworks CD?

We've been blocked from going into DOS as well as Windows Repair. Without Norton, it may be "Re-install City", it appears.
