OLDTRADER - I agree with your general premise about armchair admirals but looked at Thurow's article because I have known his work for about 20 years and respect it. The article probably has nothing new in it but has one really intriguing insight in it - the idea that businesses that are not web-based now may not be able to make the transition and thus will lose out to those who begin as wholly web-based. He says that a compaq probably can never become a dell. I hope he is right.
