Thanks Bernard,

Interesting theories there. RBOC's then, seem to have better potential than T's of the world. I'm all hung up on the now old saw that there is no last mile solution on the near horizon that could really give consumers a serious internet, and the implications of that. Cable modems don't quite do it perhaps, Mr. Gilder's prognosis for them in general is delayed already, and it seems FTTH(fiber to the home) is the main viable enabler, but still a long way off; or is wireless advancement the answer? I've looked at Cable and DSL as interim solutions quite welcome. Maybe Cable and DSL might yet whet some demand, and so maybe RBOC's would be better off spending on the FTTH side of things? It seems someone has to provide the next step ahead in the last mile, and the sooner the better? Is there a problem with buying up long haulers if there is nothing but business terminated fiber to fill them? ???
