Bob, that's a very valid alternative. My comment wasn’t supposed to be logical, just an irrational outburst to demonstrate frustration and seek attention. When do investors ever blame themselves for losing money? <VBG>

If you are referring to me the writer of the orginal letter, my cost basis is $1.15 million (not $5 million)all bought in stages between July, 1999 and now. I figure the only people that hit the bottom or top of any market (bull or bear)are either lucky or liars. I fully expect to cover that ground and much more. Sticking mostly with low cost deposits helped stem the damage. That's one area where you and I agree. BTW, picked up my first shares in GBU today.
