Stanford's big new toy tackles data BY ANNE ROCHELL KONIGSMARK Mercury News It's bigger than six household refrigerators and can compute in a matter of hours what used to take weeks. Stanford University's newest acquisition, a supercomputer called the Origin 3800, will process mountains of biomedical data, including the details of the human genome, and use it to unlock the secrets to human development and human disease.
