Intel Investors - CPU market update

“As the majority of industry traders declare a severe decrease in general electronic component business over the past two months, we have been and continue to experience an upswing in CPU requirements, orders, and profitable excess opportunities,” says NECX analyst Beau Limbocker..

The demand on the PIII-800EB flip chip calmed last week as the 866 took over, but Limbocker says that supplies still cannot meet demand, with parts trading even slightly higher than 175.00. “Expect these parts to continue to rise to the near 200-dollar mark by the last week of this month,” he says."

Paul,

If that's the plan (which I doubt), Intel is giving AMD an opening to the server market. Intel needs .13u based Fosters (forgot the code name) to be everywhere except the lowest end in 2002.

Think of it the same way as if someone was buying Katmai based P3s or Xeons today. Whoever buys a NEW machine based on that chip today needs to have his head examined, since the Coppermine based product has completely replaced Katmai based product and is much better in every aspect.
