This is the Middle Niece, the artist. She hasn't had any use for horses since one stepped on her foot. The youngest niece idolizes her oldest sister and is another horse nut.

One of my coworkers lost his oldest son a year or two ago. The boy and some friends were walking along the railroad tracks, and in a bit youthful bravado stood near the train as it passed. Something was loose on one of the cars, and it struck him and killed him. It's just the luck of the draw, I think every teenage kid must do stuff like this. It's really taken a toll on his dad. Such a shame.
