In a moment of desperation, faced with a puzzle I helped to create, a dimly lit light bulb turned on (yup, we still got this funky private forever utilities in HK island called China Light and Power, and Hong Kong Electric) and outlined a faint hint of a solution ... making use of that raft built earlier, find another island and start over!

And so, on Tom's island, the price of rafts began to rise inexorably, denominated in real coconuts, as no amount of paper coconuts seem valuable enough as the island began to cave in on itself.

<<The holders of 10% of the paper coconut promises are screwed. But this is to be, regardless, so might as well get some warmth and entertainment from it.>>

The paper coconut promises, in addition to a fuel source, are also useful in patching leaky roofs, or so our friends in Russia learned last summer!

I suppose this is what the maestro means when he says the Fed seeks "flexibility" in its monetary policy!<G>
